About This Role
The Engineer-To-Order (ETO) Design Engineer will be responsible for executing mechanical design activities for the Comfort Cooling and Data Center Cooling Programs at Carrier. This role focuses on design execution and release through development and implementation of new or revised 3D models, conducts design analysis, CAD drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) within an accelerated timeframe and error free. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in mechanical design, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This position will report to the ETO Engineering Design Manager for Commercial Chillers receiving directions from the Systems Engineer and Sr. Design Lead.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fully experienced with CREO PRO-E
- Fully experienced with PDM Windchill
- Solid understanding and experience with drafting standards and procedures
- Experienced with the bill of material structure and databases – Windchill BOM preferred
- Experience with change management, Engineering Change Requests, and Engineering Change Notices
- Proven experience with complex 3D parametric modeling
- Experience with sheet metal design and manufacturing processes
- Experience with piping design and manufacturing processes
- Experienced with Top Level Assemblies and Large Assembly Management
- Some experience with electrical components, subassemblies, and component function a plus
- General understanding and exposure to electro-mechanical control systems and components
- Has in-depth knowledge of the design role and engineering discipline
- Responsible for the quality and accuracy of work and performance in meeting hardline schedule deliverables
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 3+ years of experience in Mechanical Design OR Associate’s Degree in Engineering with 5+ years of experience in Mechanical Design
- 2+ years of recent experience with CREO Parametric
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or related technical discipline with 5+ years of experience
- Mechanical aptitude
- Demonstrated creativity in product design and preferred experience with Product Development
- Working knowledge of manufacturing fabrication and assembly methods
- Excellent problem solving and advanced analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated detail orientation and superior follow-up and follow-through skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint).
