Role Summary
The Senior Data Engineer is a hands-on technical contributor responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and high-quality, reusable datasets across Snowflake, AWS, and GCP. This role is part of the Corporate Functions team (Finance and Master Data domains – Customer, Vendor, Material) and operates in a complex enterprise environment integrating 70+ ERP systems (SAP ECC, Atlas, JDE, Baan, etc.). This position requires strong hands-on skills, with growing ownership under the direction of Tech Leads and Architects.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering & Pipeline Development
- Build and maintain scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines.
- Develop advanced and optimised SQL transformations (daily usage expected).
- Use Python for data processing, automation, and pipeline logic.
- Work across Snowflake, AWS, and GCP platforms.
- Integrate and standardise data from multiple ERP systems.
- Optimise queries and transformations for performance and cost efficiency.
Data Modelling & Dataset Design
- Support implementation of logical and physical data models.
- Build structured, reusable, and analytics-ready datasets.
- Contribute to master data (Customer, Vendor, Material) and finance reporting layers.
- Apply sound modelling principles to ensure scalability and performance.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise data product standards.
- Hands-on modelling capability is expected.
Data Quality & Governance
- Implement and monitor data quality checks using Ataccama.
- Work with Atlan or similar data catalog/governance tools.
- Support lineage documentation and metadata management.
- Perform validation, reconciliation, and issue resolution.
- Contribute to enterprise data standardisation initiatives.
Hands-on Technical Contribution
- Actively code SQL and Python transformations.
- Troubleshoot pipeline failures and data inconsistencies.
- Optimise joins, aggregations, and transformation logic.
- Assist in resolving data challenges across fragmented ERP sources.
- Continuously improve performance and reliability of pipelines.
Business Collaboration
- Work with Tech Leads and stakeholders to understand requirements.
- Translate business definitions and KPIs into structured datasets.
- Build domain understanding in Finance and Corporate Functions.
- Ensure delivered datasets are consumption-ready.
Engineering Practices & Collaboration
- Follow best practices in SQL, Python, and data modelling.
- Adhere to CI/CD and DevOps standards.
- Contribute to reusable framework and data product initiatives.
- Collaborate effectively within agile data teams.
- Continuously improve engineering quality and standards.
Required Qualifications
- 4–7 years of experience in data engineering.
- Strong hands-on expertise in SQL.
- Strong Python programming skills.
- Practical data modelling experience.
- Experience with Snowflake.
- Experience working on AWS and GCP.
- Experience with Ataccama.
- Experience with Atlan or similar data catalog/governance tools.
- Proven experience building and maintaining scalable data pipelines.
- Exposure to working with multiple enterprise data sources (ERP preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a highly technical, hands-on role.
Preferred Qualifications
- ERP exposure (SAP ECC, JDE, Baan, etc.).
- Master data or finance domain experience.
- Familiarity with modern data platform or Lakehouse architectures.
- Exposure to AI/ML data preparation use cases.
- Experience working in agile, enterprise-scale data teams.
