About this role

The Accounting & Controllership Manager will lead the monthly financial close, with a particular focus on freight, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. As a transformational leader, the manager will lead a team while driving process improvements and supporting professional development and career growth within Carrier’s global organization.

This position follows a hybrid work model (3 days in the office, 2 days remote).

Key Responsibilities

  • Ownership of end-to-end freight accounting including reserves across North American factories and distribution centers
  • Transformational activities including but not limited to freight process and accounting oversight
  • Management of third-party provider relationships
  • Supervision and development of direct reports and mentorship across departments; initial team of 2 direct reports
  • Perform and control the month-end financial statement closing process including supporting team members throughout their duties and reviewing journal entries 
  • Review of month-end account reconciliations prepared by team members
  • Drive automation initiatives using Excel, SAP BI/Analysis for Office and data extraction tools to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify inefficiencies and implement corrective solutions
  • Support annual SOX initiatives and work closely with external and internal auditors
  • Actively participate in cross-functional special projects as requested
  • Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting / finance / business administration / commerce / economics / data analytics.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting.
  • 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Office applications at a proficient level.
  • 2+ years of experience in team management.

Preferred Qualifications (assets)

Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Admin
  • Experience with SAP and HFM preferred
  • Self-driven with prior supervisory experience
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated success communicating with senior leaders, collaborating across functions, and presenting financial information clearly.
  • Adaptable to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy within a diverse organization

Additional information:

  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without restriction; visa sponsorship is not available.

Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $96,000.00 - $192,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. The pay range will not be below the minimum wage applicable to the jurisdiction in which the applicant is to be employed.

Other Compensation

This position is entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
