About the role

The Steel Fabrication Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for metal fabrication commodities including sheet metal, stamping and machining components. This role partners closely with engineering, operations and supply chain teams to ensure competitive supplier selection, strong supplier relationships and continuous cost improvement initiatives. The position plays a key role in driving supplier performance, negotiating contracts and identifying engineering savings opportunities that support the organization’s supply chain strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Steel Fabrication Commodity Manager, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Developing and executing strategic sourcing plans for sheet metal, stamping and machining commodities.

  • Managing supplier relationships, including supplier performance, negotiations and contract management.

  • Leading negotiations with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing, contract coverage and cost reduction initiatives.

  • Partnering with internal stakeholders to identify sourcing opportunities and support supply chain strategies.

  • Driving productivity and engineering savings projects while ensuring reliable supply, quality and delivery performance.

Requirements

We are looking for people who are analytical, collaborative and strategic, with strong negotiation and supplier management capabilities. If this is you, get in touch.

As a minimum you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement or commodity management.

  • Experience managing suppliers in metal fabrication processes such as sheet metal, stamping or machining.

  • Experience negotiating supplier pricing, contracts and commercial agreements.

  • Strong communication skills and experience working with cross-functional or global teams.

  • Although not necessary, it would be nice if you have:

  • Experience driving engineering cost savings or productivity initiatives.

  • Global supply chain experience working with suppliers across different regions.

  • Strong proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and data analysis tools.
