About the role

This role requires experience in HVAC Thermal / Refrigeration System Design & Analysis/ Heat Exchanger design, Component design simulations, Testing of chillers per AHRI/ BEE labeling, Product customization and localization and Project Management

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design cooling system (HVAC) engineering programs from concept through validation and release, ensuring alignment with technical requirements, timelines, and business objectives

  • Develop comprehensive program plans, including scope, schedule, and resource allocation, to ensure successful program execution.

  • Follow, develop & maintain system‑level engineering plans, including scope definition, technical deliverables, design milestones, and resource coordination

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and system‑level risks related to cooling performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and compliance throughout the product lifecycle

  • Define, track, and review engineering KPIs such as cooling performance, efficiency, reliability, validation status, and schedule adherence

  • Ensure cooling system designs comply with applicable regulations, standards, and internal engineering processes (e.g., HVAC codes, safety, quality, and stage‑gate requirements)

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of cooling system design practices, tools, and best practices

  • Must have a background in HVAC&R or related Industry

EDUCATION PREFERRED:

Bachelors / Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

Design & development experience required as below:

  • Essential Competencies/ Primary Skill Set:

  • Thermal system design & development for Chillers

  • Experience of selection and integration of key components like compressor, Copper tubes, Economizer, Thermal design of heat exchanger (Shell & Tube, Fin & Tube, MCHX, Brazed plate type etc.) oil separator design/optimization etc.

  • Design of the sub-assemblies and parts & development in coordination with suppliers.

  • Chiller Prototype Preparation & conducting a DFMEA, DFA/M/S & Design Reviews at various stages.

  • VAVE (Value Analysis Value Engineering) and product costing, should costing analysis

  • Preparing launch related literature (Installation & Service manual, Training manual etc).

  • Design and drawing review, review designs/ drawings and prepare Bills of Materials. 

  • Exposure of different refrigerants selections and properties (HFC, HCFC, CFCs , HFOs)

  • Tracks and follow-up of all projects and provide status updates regularly.

  • Product Innovation – identify relevant trends in products and initiate actions.

  • Identify / evaluate opportunities and develop prototype post design simulations on software’s .

  • Engage with other cross functional team for execution of the projects.

  • Adherence to project time schedule, risk identification & mitigation

  • Desirable Competencies/ Secondary Skill Set:

    • Shell & Tube HE Thermal & Mechanical Design as per ASME Sec VIII Div-1 & TEMA-C.

    • Test, Optimize, qualify the product as per applicable standards (IS16590, AHRI 550/551 etc) and Chiller BEE labelling. Exposure to chiller controls and troubleshooting.

    • Knowledge of system simulation software’s (e.g. HTRI, MATLAB etc)

    • Knowledge of pressure vessels design and applicable codes (e.g. ASME/TEMA)

    • Experience of Dimensioning & Tolerance analysis

    • Analytical thinking, Problem solving, adaptability and strong communication skills.

    • Self-starter who can work on his/her own initiative, balance demand load & prioritize
