Build a career with confidence

Carrier Global Corporation, global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions is committed to creating solutions that matter for people and our planet for generations to come. From the beginning, we've led in inventing new technologies and entirely new industries. Today, we continue to lead because we have a world-class, diverse workforce that puts the customer at the center of everything we do.

About the role

The Data Product Owner – Truck & Trailer IoT supports the definition and delivery of IoT‑enabled data products focused on connected trucks, trailers, and mobile assets. These data products enable fleet operations, asset visibility, maintenance insights, safety, and lifecycle analytics for truck and trailer businesses.
This role works closely with fleet operations, telematics teams, aftermarket/service teams, data engineers, and platform teams to translate vehicle and trailer telemetry data into trusted, reusable data products that support analytics, reporting, and future AI/ML use cases.
This is an ideal role for someone early in their career who wants to build a product mindset at the intersection of IoT, mobility, and data analytics.

Key Responsibilities

1. Truck & Trailer IoT Data Product Definition

  • Support definition of IoT‑driven data products related to trucks, trailers, and mobile assets, such as:
  • Vehicle and trailer location, movement, and utilization
  • Telematics signals (GPS, temperature, door events, idle time)
  • Asset health, fault codes, and maintenance indicators
  • Cold‑chain and cargo condition monitoring (where applicable)
  • Assist in capturing business requirements, KPIs, and use cases from fleet, service, and operations stakeholders.
  • Help document data product scope, objectives, and success metrics aligned to enterprise data product standards.

2. Truck & Trailer Business Domain Collaboration

  • Work with fleet operations, service, aftermarket, and IoT/telematics teams to understand how trucks and trailers are used in real‑world operations.
  • Develop familiarity with truck and trailer business concepts, including:
  • Fleet utilization and uptime
  • Preventive and predictive maintenance
  • Asset lifecycle and warranty considerations
  • Safety, compliance, and regulatory reporting
  • Act as a bridge between business users and technical teams, ensuring shared understanding of requirements and outcomes.

3. Delivery & Execution Support

  • Partner with data engineers to support delivery of streaming and near‑real‑time IoT data products sourced from telematics platforms.
  • Support agile ceremonies (backlog refinement, sprint reviews, demos) and track progress of data product delivery.
  • Validate delivered datasets against business definitions, freshness expectations, and usability needs before release.
  • 4. Data Quality, Governance & Context for Telematics Data
  • Help define basic data quality expectations for vehicle and trailer telemetry (e.g., timeliness, completeness, signal consistency).
  • Support documentation of business meaning and operational context for IoT signals (what the data represents and how it should be interpreted).
  • Ensure data products follow established metadata, ownership, and governance standards.

5. Stakeholder Communication & Adoption

  • Support communication with stakeholders on data product scope, delivery timelines, and usage guidance.
  • Assist in onboarding analysts, operations users, and service teams to truck and trailer IoT data products.
  • Gather user feedback to improve clarity, usability, and business value of data products.

Required Qualifications

  • 2 to 6 years of experience in a business analyst, product analyst, data analyst, or junior product role.
  • Basic understanding of data, analytics, and KPIs.
  • Interest in IoT, telematics, fleet management, or mobility solutions.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams in an agile environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to truck, trailer, or fleet‑related data (telematics, GPS, sensors, service data).
  • Familiarity with IoT or telematics platforms and event‑based / time‑series data.
  • Understanding of fleet KPIs such as utilization, uptime, dwell time, MTBF/MTTR, or cold‑chain compliance.
  • Experience supporting dashboards or operational reporting.
  • Curiosity to learn streaming data pipelines and IoT architectures.
