ABOUT THE ROLE:

This position plays an important support role in the New Product Development process as well as Product Sustaining process.  This role will support the complete AHRI audit process for multiple product platforms across Carrier’s portfolio with emphasis on commercial air handling equipment. In addition, the role will contribute to the statistical analysis of test data, as well as identify and drive process improvements throughout day-to-day activities. This position is located in Syracuse, NY.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support of the AHRI audit process from equipment selection and ordering, to witnessing of all audit testing at 3rd party laboratories.
  • Maintain the AHRI database as it relates to the AHU product offering
  • Responsible for overseeing the organization’s internal audit program, and communicating updates to leadership on a recurring basis
  • Responsible for supporting multiple projects with significant scope and complexity
  • Perform internal lab correlation activities to ensure maximum data integrity across multiple locations
  • Participate in codes and standards development (for example, ASHRAE, ASME, AHRI, etc.)
  • Perform reviews and DIVES on failures, near misses, and other issues that arise from audit testing
  • Support the organization’s initiative to use statistics and variation as a driver in new product development and sustaining activities
  • Work closely with product development engineers, Product Management, and Marketing to generate and document official product rating information
  • Implement Carrier Excellence tools to drive continuous improvement into existing processes.
  • Performs other duties as required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 2+ years of mechanical and/or engineering experience in a HVAC testing and/or HVAC product development environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated refrigeration, mechanical, and electrical background
  • Self-starter with ability to learn quickly and work independently under minimum to moderate direction
  • Capable of receiving feedback and being mentored by a senior level engineer
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid flow, and heat transfer
  • Solid technical skills and analytical proficiency
  • Understand basic electronic controls function in HVAC equipment
  • Experience in new product development or testing environment
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively, follow oral and written instructions
  • At least 3+ years of mechanical experience
  • Understanding of the requirements to properly certify HVAC equipment for performance and safety
  • Direct experience in the testing of HVAC equipment including commercial air handling equipment, packaged and split air conditioners, heat pumps, DX or water coils, furnaces, and fans.
  • Comfortable working on teams providing and receiving input from multiple team members
  • ASHRAE affiliation a plus
  • Experience working with 3rd party laboratories a plus
  • Knowledge of statistics and product variability
  • Willing to travel, up to approximately 20%

Pay Range:

$61,213 - $107,122 Annually
