Carrier Residential HVAC (Residential Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) at the Collierville factory, TN is primarily involved in the production and assembly of residential HVAC systems. Carrier’s Collierville plant is focused on manufacturing, engineering, and quality assurance for our residential HVAC products.

About this role

Carrier Residential HVAC has an opportunity for a Buyer to join our Procurement team in Collierville, this is an onsite role.

As a procurement professional, the Buyer will carry out processes, standards, and operational plans in support of purchasing activities, including RFPs, negotiation preparations, and cost analysis. The Buyer will work closely with others in activities associated with purchasing goods, materials, supplies, and/or services. Procurement will be focused on Raw Materials, specifically Metals (steel, aluminum, copper).

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute procurement processes, standards, and operational plans in line with the policies and procedure
  • Manage requests for proposals (RFPs), negotiation preparations, PO issues, payment terms, and cost analysis
  • Work closely with requestors and vendors on supply, materials demand planning and Sales Inventory Operations Planning (SIOP) to optimize the utilization of business resources and to meet customer expectations
  • Liaise with requestors and vendors to identify opportunities to optimize cost savings
  • Review vendors’ contract terms and prepare service agreements to ensure terms are in the best interest of the organization
  • Follow up with suppliers to expedite and ensure that Supplier On-time Delivery Performance is met, escalate issues timely to address supply issues
  • Respond to inquiries on order status, changes, or cancellations to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Monitor inventories at Third Party Logistics partners (3PLs)
  • Maintain accurate vendor master information i.e., contract agreements and price
  • Support process improvement to enhance and standardize purchasing and inventory management processes
  • Monitor and evaluate suppliers’ performance; apply sustainable countermeasures and actions to facilitate improvement
  • Assist in generating reports for management
  • Resolve suppliers’ service, deliveries, or billing discrepancies

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate degree
  • 3+ years of purchasing experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Negotiating skills regarding contracts/pricing
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic environment
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry, OEM, and/or supply chain management
  • English written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter capable of working with minimal oversight and proactive in seeking solutions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and MRP/ERP system experience
  • Demonstrate initiative while working with different sides of the business
