Build a career with confidence

Carrier Global Corporation, global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions is committed to creating solutions that matter for people and our planet for generations to come. From the beginning, we've led in inventing new technologies and entirely new industries. Today, we continue to lead because we have a world-class, diverse workforce that puts the customer at the center of everything we do.

About the role

The EHS professional is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of Environment, Health, and Safety policies and procedures that are consistent with Carrier’s standards and local regulatory requirements.

Role Responsibilities

The EHS professional is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of Environment, Health, and Safety policies and procedures that are consistent with Carrier’s standards and local regulatory requirements. Regular factory audits and inspections are conducted to identify workplace hazards and to ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant regulations. A key aspect of the role involves leading incident investigations, identifying root causes, and formulating corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to establish and reinforce a safety-first culture throughout the organisation. The EHS professional actively engages employees in EHS initiatives, providing them with training and resources to ensure understanding and adherence to EHS standards and policies. Monitoring and reporting on key EHS metrics is also a significant part of the role, supporting continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.

Remaining up to date with changes in regulations and industry best practices is critical. The EHS professional serves as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and oversees the management of emergency response plans and safety drills. Environmental sustainability forms another important area of responsibility, with the professional managing waste disposal programmes to minimise ecological impact. Promotion of Carrier's leading safety indicators, such as Near Misses and Stop Works, and participation in regional EHS meetings are also included.

Qualifications and Experience

A recognised Diploma or Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Safety or Fire & Safety is required, with state board-approved certifications such as CLI or RLI preferred. The NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) is highly desirable, particularly for candidates with experience in multinational organisations. Effective communication skills in English are mandatory, and a Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, occupational health and safety, or a related field is expected.

Registration as a WSH Manager, along with five to eight years of relevant experience in manufacturing, oil and gas, or processing environments, is preferred. Familiarity with local workplace safety and health regulations is essential for success in this role.

Key Skills and Competencies

The EHS professional must possess thorough knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements, including the Factories Act, 1948, the BOCW Act, and other state-specific safety laws. Technical expertise is required in hazard identification and risk assessment (HIRA), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), machine safeguarding, electrical safety, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS), and work at height procedures.

The ability to conduct safety audits in accordance with ISO 45001 and 14001 standards, lead incident investigations, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) is necessary. Familiarity with management systems such as Emergency Response Plans (ERP), personal protective equipment (PPE) management, and safety training modules is vital. Strong leadership, effective communication, and the capacity to influence and promote a safety-first mindset among workers and contractors are key soft skills.

Additionally, experience in establishing new plants from greenfield, managing Transfer Of Work (TOW), and overseeing EHS during the construction phase is considered advantageous.
