About This Role
Lead a team of 2 logistics professionals that oversee operational activities supporting Mexico, US and Canada import and export shipments and transport operations. Play main role in mentoring and developing your team’s talent including setting goals, supporting employee growth, improving performance and achieving expected results. Participate in teams, committees, events, and training that support organizational growth and improvement. Apply continuous improvement tools to identify and eliminate the root causes of issues that may arise and further progress processes and policies. Partner and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including forwarders, brokers, other BU & department leaders and peers to benefit Carrier Corp initiatives and strategic efforts.
Job Description
Support and coordinate Carrier Corp project-based work that requires pricing, shipment mode, and other necessary actions on international shipments to achieve project targets and goals.
Must be experienced in quoting & negotiating ocean and air freight pricing; including over-weight and over-dimensional cargo across all transportation modes.
Tracking and tracing ocean and air shipments; reporting to peers and leaders on shipment status, as needed.
Must understand ocean and air freight regulations, import and export methods, pricing factors and be familiar with incoterms and customs regulations.
Responsible for annual productivity savings projects and achieving corporate objectives with cost reduction and support those initiatives as needed.
Engages providers during their onboarding.
Communicates reports, status changes & improvement opportunities internally and externally.
Performs ongoing comparison of logistic models and costs. Analyzes ongoing freight cost and routing optimization. Engaged in establishing the transportation budget.
Responsible for knowing all current air freight and ocean transport market conditions alerting leadership to potential risks, cost impacts, and operational threats.
Engages in cooperation with customer service, procurement and analytics teams; strategically align and support our transportation planning ops group.
Conduct provider business reviews to review key metrics, continuous improvements, and build upon the working relationships with service providers.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
5+ years of experience in supply chain, transportation or logistics
3+ years’ experience leading, mentoring and managing a team of people
Travel up to 25% including internationally
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree
Knowledge of international transportation industry, methodology and practices.
Demonstrated experience with building strong provider relationships.
Systems experience with business intelligence, freight cost measurements, reporting, real-time visibility, and analysis for all transportation modes.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize among a wide range of responsibilities.
Self-sufficient, results-driven, detail-oriented and customer service mindset.
Analytical approach to solving problems, balancing risk, and reward, using hard and soft skills.
Ability to think creatively, innovate, take risks, and implement progressive, sustainable solutions.
Strong ability to work in diverse, cross-functional project teams to achieve high levels of performance in a dynamic, changing environment.
Successful experience with collaborating in a matrix environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint required.
SAP and TMS experience a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Pay Range
The annual salary for this position is between $96,000.00 - $192,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.Other Compensation
This position is entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.Benefits
