Summary:

This position manages a team of intermediate or experienced professionals in Test and Validation, leads project efforts, integration and testing, applies specialist knowledge, and coordinates preparation of business plans.

Key Responsibilities

QA Strategy & Leadership

  • Define, own, and drive the overall QA strategy for Software End-to-End (SW E2E) testing of embedded products.

  • Lead, mentor, and manage QA team across manual and automation testing.

  • Establish quality goals, KPIs, dashboards, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure adherence to quality processes, standards, and best practices across programs.

Embedded Testing & Technical Oversight

  • Oversee testing of integrated embedded systems, device drivers, communication protocols, and real-time systems.

  • Ensure adequate test coverage across functional, integration, system, and regression testing.

  • Review and approve test strategies, test plans, test cases, automation frameworks, and defect reports.

  • Provide technical guidance in defect analysis, root cause identification, and resolution.

  • Act as a subject-matter expert for embedded and hardware–software integration testing activities.

Automation & Tools

  • Drive test automation strategy for embedded systems.

  • Ensure effective usage and evolution of Robot Framework using Python for test automation.

  • Promote automation best practices to improve efficiency, coverage, and reliability.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with System Engineering, DevOps, and Product Management teams.

  • Participate in architecture and design reviews to provide testability, quality, and risk-based inputs.

  • Enable smooth collaboration across geographically distributed and cross-functional teams.

Stakeholder & Program Management

  • Provide regular quality status, metrics, and risk updates to leadership and key stakeholders.

  • Manage test schedules, resource planning, dependencies, and delivery commitments in an Agile/SAFe environment.

  • Support release planning and go/no-go decisions with data-driven quality insights.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Strong experience in embedded systems testing, preferably in IoT, automotive, industrial, medical, or HVAC domains.

  • Hands-on exposure to embedded software and system-level validation.

  • Experience working with microcontrollers, sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces.

  • Knowledge of embedded communication protocols such as CAN, UART, Ethernet, etc.

  • Hands-on or working knowledge of embedded test automation frameworks, especially Robot Framework with Python.

Leadership & Process Skills

  • Proven experience managing large and/or distributed QA teams.

  • Strong background in test strategy, defect management, quality governance, and metrics-driven reporting.

  • Experience working in Agile and/or SAFe environments.

  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Embedded Systems, Electronics, Computer Science, or related field).

  • Typically 10+ years of experience in QA/testing with 3+ years in a QA Lead or Manager role for embedded products.
