The role:

The primary purpose of the role of the Europe Quality Director is to ensure that all products shipped from Carrier factories and warehouses meet and exceed customer expectations as received and throughout its planned life cycle.  The position demands a leadership style that brings full organization weight to the needs of our customers and ensures that resource planning and programs are dynamically paced to the needs of the marketplace and Carrier. The role is responsible for managing the European quality organization including developing functional capabilities in the organization across factory, supplier, new product, and customer quality across multiple sites.  The Quality Director is ultimately responsible for representing the quality organization internally across functions and to the executive level as well as externally with customers, suppliers, and other third parties.  Finally, the position is responsible for driving quality excellence to achieve year over year improvements in total cost of quality and the customer experience with our products.

Key responsibilities:

Organizational Planning

• Define goals and success targets
• Develop and execute European quality strategy
• Inform Refrigeration and Carrier-wide global quality strategies
• Manage and plan resources and investments
• Create and implement global quality standards and processes to achieve goals

Reporting - Performance & Stakeholder Management

• Report weekly, monthly, and annual reporting across locations and quality sub-functions into Operations and Business executive leadership
• Manage executive stakeholders across function, business unit, and region to achieve quality objectives (i.e., sustained, design and manufacturing engineering, finance, etc.)
• Manage Europe quality budget
• Identify, recruit, and develop talent within the quality organization to ensure talent pipeline and resiliency

Factory Quality

• Provides Staff Leadership and Coordination for all Quality activities for plant and associated product lines.

• Establishes clear objectives for their staff.  Ensures goals are obtained and training needs are addressed.

• Ensures the plant has a recognized and maintained formal quality system and required certifications. 

• Promotes and ensures the proper use of quality tools within the site.
• Ensures quick identification and resolution of quality issues driven by factory activities.
• Establish robust run-testing procedures to present customer escapes.

Advance Product Quality Planning & New Product Quality

• Approves European stage-gate program governance for new product launches and transfers of work.
• Establishes quality success criteria for critical deliverables and processes (FMEA, PPAP, etc.) to support successful on-time launches and continued quality excellence.

• Leads cost reduction and supplier rationalization efforts ensuring quality objectives and improvements are obtained.

• Ensures that Factory and Suppliers’ Advanced Quality Planning supports flawless new product launches and proper engineering change executions.

Supplier Quality

• Ensures Supplier Qualifications are properly managed and that a sense of continuous improvement is fostered.

• Ensures Supplier Escapes are contained and properly resolved in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
• Support Global Refrigeration and Carrier supplier quality organization and ensures standards are met by European team

Carrier Excellence & Continuous Improvement

• Promotes a culture of continuous improvement & change management to exceed operational goals of the facility. 

• Promotes Lean Initiatives within the quality organization- internally and externally.

Warranty Improvement & Customer Quality

• Promotes and manages warranty improvement activities across the Europe plants and distribution or logistics warehouses and product lines. 
• Informs and implements global Carrier warranty management programs and standards to decrease warranty spend YOY and improve the customer experience.
• Creates and executes a clear customer quality management process to identify, prioritize, and resolve warranty claims and customer issues to deliver the best possible customer experience and reduce warranty costs YOY.

Required Qualifications:

• 10 years of Industrial Quality Experience with at least three years experience managing a comprehensive Quality Network across multiple sites

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical degree.

• Must have a proven track record and in-depth knowledge and experience with quality tools and methods, quality management systems, and supplier quality management.

• Strategic and business mindset, entrepreneurial spirit that challenges the status quo, and a passion for exceeding customer expectations

• Strong program management skills to drive outcome realization including sense of urgency, ownership and accountability, and passion for customer satisfaction.
• Mentor, coach, and develop the operational quality staff as a high-performing team that adds value to the business.
• Experience with general stage-gate program governance and program structures.

• Strong self-starter: ability to anticipate potential issues, ability to quickly formulate options to resolve problems; strong conceptual thinker.

• Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also able to prioritize.

• Presentation and communication acumen with audiences of varying group sizes, technical skill levels, and levels of business responsibilities.

• Strong interpersonal skills.  Must influence other pillars of the Carrier organization in regard to overall Quality performance.

• Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Capabilities.

• Proficient skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, SharePoint, Teams).

• Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO/TS 16949, and other quality certifications
• Knowledge of quality tools (Six Sigma, PPAP, 8D) and Lean Manufacturing
• Respect for the rules and exemplarity

• Priority Management
• Strong interpersonal skills: ability to influence other pillars of the organization

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in engineering, business, or other technical degree
• Language – fluent in English, French, and Czech
• Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent. Black Belt is preferred.

Fourchette de rémunération

La rémunération annuelle pour ce poste est comprise entre €88 500,00-€176 500,00 par an.Les facteurs pouvant influencer la rémunération incluent notamment les compétences, la formation, l’expérience et d’autres qualifications spécifiques du candidat retenu. Les facteurs pouvant influencer la rémunération au sein de cette fourchette comprennent, sans s’y limiter, les compétences, le niveau d’études, l’expérience, l’éventuelle couverture par une convention collective, la rémunération habituellement pratiquée sur le marché pour ce poste, ainsi que toute autre qualification particulière du candidat retenu.[
