About the role
The Financial Systems Implementation Lead is responsible for leading the successful deployment of enterprise financial systems across planning, configuration, integration, testing, data readiness, deployment, and adoption. This role serves as a critical liaison between Finance, business stakeholders, Digital Technology teams, implementation partners, and functional workstreams to ensure solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned to business objectives.
This position plays a key role in large-scale transformation initiatives, including ERP implementations, finance transformation programs, process standardization, automation, and related technology deployments. The role requires a hands-on implementation leader who can translate strategic objectives into practical, scalable solutions while driving cross-functional alignment, issue resolution, and business readiness.
The ideal candidate brings deep implementation experience, strong finance and business process knowledge, structured project delivery skills, and the ability to influence stakeholders in a global, matrixed environment. They are comfortable navigating ambiguity, managing complex initiatives, and driving sustainable adoption of new processes and technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Program & Project Delivery
- Lead financial systems implementation workstreams from planning through deployment, stabilization, and hypercare.
- Partner with Finance, business stakeholders, Digital Technology, vendors, and implementation partners to define scope, objectives, requirements, and success criteria.
- Develop and manage implementation plans, timelines, dependencies, risks, mitigation strategies, and key delivery milestones.
- Coordinate cross-functional execution across business, technology, vendor, and project teams to maintain alignment and accountability.
- Monitor project progress, communicate status, and escalate risks, issues, and decisions to leadership and stakeholders.
Business Process & Solution Design
- Analyze current-state finance and business processes to identify opportunities for standardization, simplification, automation, and control improvement.
- Facilitate workshops to gather business requirements, align stakeholders, and document future-state process designs.
- Translate business requirements into functional solution designs that support scalable finance operations and enterprise transformation goals.
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, finance process objectives, internal controls, and strategic priorities.
- Promote leading practices and process discipline while minimizing unnecessary customization and operational complexity.
System Configuration & Integration
- Partner with Digital Technology teams to design, validate, and govern system integrations, data flows, and upstream/downstream dependencies.
- Review configuration and integration designs to confirm business requirements, finance process needs, and control expectations are met.
- Drive issue resolution, defect management, and decision-making throughout the implementation lifecycle.
- Coordinate with vendors, implementation partners, and system integrators to ensure solution delivery activities are completed with quality and accountability.
Testing & Deployment
- Drive implementation testing strategies, including system integration testing, user acceptance testing, regression testing, and deployment validation.
- Coordinate Finance and business participation during testing cycles to ensure coverage, accountability, and timely issue resolution.
- Manage defect tracking, prioritization, root-cause analysis, and resolution efforts in partnership with technology and implementation teams.
- Oversee cutover planning, deployment readiness reviews, go-live execution, and post-go-live support.
- Ensure a disciplined transition into production operations, including support readiness, knowledge transfer, and stabilization activities.
Data Migration & Quality
- Lead data conversion, validation, reconciliation, and migration activities for financial systems implementations.
- Establish and enforce controls to ensure data accuracy, completeness, integrity, and auditability.
- Partner with Finance, business, and technology teams to resolve data quality issues and confirm ownership of remediation actions.
- Validate migrated data, coordinate reconciliation activities, and support formal business sign-off processes.
Change Management & Adoption
- Lead organizational readiness and change management activities to support successful adoption of new financial systems, processes, and ways of working.
- Coordinate development of training materials, job aids, communications, and user support documentation.
- Conduct stakeholder briefings and coordinate end-user training and knowledge transfer sessions.
- Drive stakeholder engagement, adoption, and sustained usage of new processes and technologies across impacted teams.
Governance & Controls
- Ensure adherence to project governance standards, finance controls, compliance requirements, and implementation methodology.
- Identify implementation risks, control considerations, escalation needs, and decision points that may affect scope, timeline, quality, or adoption.
- Support audit, security, SOX, access, and internal control requirements throughout the implementation lifecycle.
- Maintain project documentation, decision logs, design approvals, control evidence, and implementation artifacts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 7 + years of experience leading enterprise system implementations, involving ERP, financial systems, finance transformation, and/or related enterprise platforms with demonstrated experience owning implementation workstreams across planning, requirements, design, configuration, testing, deployment, stabilization, and/or adoption.
- 10 + years of experience with implementation methodologies, SDLC practices, project governance, and/or structured delivery frameworks
- Managed at least 3 projects with cross-functional initiatives involving business teams, Digital Technology, vendors, and/or implementation partners.
- 10 + years of experience with requirements gathering, process design, testing coordination, defect management, data validation, cutover, and/or deployment readiness.
- 10 + years of knowledge and understanding of finance processes, financial controls, data flows, reconciliation, and/or system-enabled business operations.
- 7 + years of demonstration of strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence, communicate with leadership, and drive alignment in a matrixed environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Finance, or Engineering
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA, Central Finance (CFIN), SAP Group Reporting, SAP BTP, or similar enterprise finance platforms.
- Experience supporting large-scale ERP, finance transformation, global process standardization, or shared services initiatives.
- Experience with finance processes such as record-to-report, consolidation, planning, close, reporting, master data, controls, or reconciliation.
- Experience working on global deployments across multiple regions, business units, or operating companies.
- Experience overseeing external implementation partners, vendors, and system integrators within complex delivery programs.
- Knowledge of process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, Agile, or design thinking.
- PMP, Scrum, CBAP, SAP, Lean Six Sigma, or related certifications preferred.
- Experience working in global, matrixed organizations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Pay Range
The annual salary for this position is between $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. The pay range will not be below the minimum wage applicable to the jurisdiction in which the applicant is to be employed.Other Compensation
This position is entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.Benefits
