About the role
Lead VRF projects with highly motivated and passionate, experienced R&D professionals, lead, and support a team of highly talented & experienced engineers to effectively understand & address product technical requirements of customers, by ensuring up to date product offerings in line with the market requirements & regulations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design /customization, localization, development of VRF & sub assemblies from concept to launch, optimize product performance / efficiency. Ensure compliance to regulatory requirements which may require to collaborate with various stakeholders across regions/ levels.
• Develop product/ solution roadmap for the category in association with business marketing & management.
• Bring in innovation in the products/ offerings and drive same along with team
• Identification of opportunities (to fill product/ offering gaps), do business case evaluation, involving right set of stakeholders, secure approvals on resources/ execution plan & ensure implementation.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership for product category
• Develop detailed master plan for resources to strengthen R&D plans and execution strategy.
• Interface with key leaders across functions and regions to ensure execution of the R&D plans
• Ensure learning & development of key R&D resources for progressive competence
• Be on top of emerging technology trends/standards and regulations and their impact on appliance industry
• Demonstrate relentless passion and perseverance to lead product category
• Support team to identify feasible solution to challenges related to product (like refrigeration system design & development, structural & controls etc).
• Align qualification/ reliability plans with fellows/ relevant experts/ regulations and ensure compliance.
• Drive cadence for all programs and support team on risk identification & mitigation.
• Ensure robustness of the products and should be well versed with key tools like- QFD, FMEA, Process capability, DOE, RRCA, DFSS, etc.
• Product Innovation – identify relevant trends in products and initiate actions.
• Engage with other cross functional HODs for resolution to the project execution challenges faced by team.
• Provide vision to team and ensure adherence to the design data management, documentation, confidentiality of design information, advance planning for CAD resources etc.
• Work closely with stakeholders to ensure achievement of cost productivity goals and adherence to project time schedules.
• Support parts development through strong understanding of manufacturing/ suppliers processes and tooling knowledge.
EDUCATION PREFERRED:
Bachelors / Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or Refrigeration & Air conditioning)
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
VRF Design & development experience (years of experience as above) required as below:
Requirements
Essential Competencies/ Primary Skill Set:
Strong new product design & development (HVAC) competence
Experience in HVAC performance, qualification & reliability testing
Experience to drive NPD projects with CFT, in agile way
Strong leadership with strong interpersonal skills
Business judgement & strategic thinking
Good communication skills
Team management
Desirable Competencies/ Secondary Skill Set:
Good understanding of the manufacturing processes, tooling etc.
HVAC products related codes & Standards and expert in compliance process
Innovation & creativity in design
Heat exchanger design optimization
Should cost analysis (good understanding of manufacturing processes)
OTHER COMPETENCIES:
Understanding of the entire new product development process.
Strong English communication skills - oral and written.
Ability to adapt quickly to an existing, complex environment.
Analytical thinking and problem solving are the key
Ability to quickly learn new concepts and products is necessary.
Passionate about building high-quality designs & implement in factories.
Self-starter who can work on his/her own initiative, balance demand load & prioritize
