We are seeking a motivated, results oriented individual to continue to raise our high bar in EH&S standards as our Collierville facility’s EH&S Environmental specialist.  The identified candidate will report directly to the Plant EH&S Manager, working in a fast pace environment that provides many exciting challenges head on.  This position is located in Collierville, TN., a suburb of Memphis, in a 900,000 square foot facility, with over 1,500 represented employees during peak season.  This is a high visibility role and success in this role will pave the way to further opportunities within the Carrier business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage environmental compliance and permitting associated with air emissions sources, storm water, waste, and waste water

• Experience with various environmental reporting including Tier II, Form R, and hazardous waste

• Conduct extensive environmental research, data collection, evaluation, and analysis in order to make recommendations to control sources of environmental risk, loss and/or cost

• Serve as the SME around environmental compliance and risk reduction by performing technical environmental training, including coaching and mentoring of facility staff

• Supervision of hourly unionized safety technicians; including staffing, performance management, process maintenance and improvement, productivity, and tactical, day-to-day activities and workflow

• Support the development and implementation of EH&S management systems and risk reduction initiatives such as ergonomics, machine guarding, confined space entry, vehicle safety, industrial hygiene, control of hazardous energy, and contractor safety.

• Support of the site's compliance continued compliance of OSHA standards, maintenance of the procedures database, injury/incident data analysis and support of the site's EH&S Annual Plan and Program Evaluation

• Utilize the continuous improvement operating system to propose and implement changes to existing processes to streamline and improve overall performance while maintaining cost controls and creating cost effective use of resources

Required Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s Degree

• 4+ years of experience in EH&S

• 1+ year of experience within a manufacturing environment required

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ year of experience within a unionized environment

• ISO14001 experience    

• Environmental Certifications

• Excellent communication skills; candidate must be comfortable providing briefings at all levels of management

• Ability to influence decisions downstream and upstream

• Solid understanding of lean principles to effectively create, implement and monitor process improvement initiatives

• Excellent project management skills and the ability to effectively lead and team with multiple functional groups to reach a common objective

• Ability to work in a self-directed manner

• Comprehensive knowledge of MS Office Applications
