About this role
Join Carrier HVAC Engineering as a Staff Systems Engineer and take a leadership role in driving the development of cutting-edge chiller systems that will define the future of sustainable cooling solutions.
The Staff Systems Engineer – Data Center Engineered to Order (ETO) products specializes in Chiller Systems at Carrier and plays a strategic leadership role within our ETO team, driving the development of advanced cooling solutions, particularly for data center customers. The Staff Systems Engineer provides expert guidance in designing, analysis, and optimizing chiller systems for maximum efficiency, reliability, and performance. Lead cross-functional initiatives, and work collaboratively with teams across engineering, and manufacturing to ensure that our chiller products meet and exceed customer expectations while adhering to industry standards and regulations.
This is an onsite role in Charlotte NC.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead high-impact data center ETO projects, involving the selection and modeling, redesign of chiller systems, driving technical innovation and ensure product excellence
- Oversee complex thermal analysis and simulations to assess system performance under various operating conditions, make high-level recommendations for improvement
- Collaborate with senior leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to define project requirements, set technical direction, and ensure alignment with business goals
- Work with ETO engineering project manager and design team to develop, review, and release designs for production
- Drive testing and validation processes, analyze complex test data, and implement advanced design enhancements for long-term product success
- Advance industry innovation, stay at the forefront of trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in thermal systems engineering
- Contribute to Carrier's long-term vision and maintain our leadership in the market
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors in engineering
- 5+ years of experience in vapor compression systems engineering
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or thermal engineering
- Thermodynamic cycle analysis, advanced modeling, and system optimization use custom-developed and commercially available software
- Lead large-scale product development efforts from concept through production
- Problem-solving and analytical skills,
- Track record of delivering innovative and high-quality solutions on time
- Communication and leadership skills
- Influence and drive results across teams and levels of the organization
- Collaborative, innovation-driven mindset,
- Focus on shaping the future of sustainable cooling technologies
