About this role

The primary roles and responsibilities of the Manufacturing Test Engineer (Electronics) position are supporting all aspects of the manufacturing test process, in Automated Logic’s clean modern factory in Kennesaw, GA.  The manufacturing test process starts with participating in design reviews on new products and assisting in the creation and implementation of test plans.  This also includes developing test strategies for the product including specifying test equipment and writing test code using National Instruments TestStand and LabWindows/CVI, C# Dotnet, and Linux.  Test Plan implementation also includes specifying test fixtures and if needed designing additional circuits to aid in testing the product.  Effective Test Plan implementation shall include meeting Takt Time, Quality, and First Pass Yield goals.  Secondary responsibilities include analyzing production test/assembly processes and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and quality; calibrating/maintaining test fixtures and equipment for production testing of electronic assemblies; and resolution of production items related to production tests.  Required tasks will include leading root cause analysis for test failures; creating documentation for testing and assembly of electronic assemblies; training production associates on production test processes, and implementation of Engineering Change Orders.

The Manufacturing Test Engineer (Electronics) will work onsite in Kennesaw, GA.

Key Responsibilities

Process Engineering

  • Contribute by applying knowledge of the PCB testing process 
  • Develop best practices for manufacturing test processes including software design and test fixture design
  • Research and implement new technologies to improve efficiency and quality

Quality Assurance

  • Involvement with quality items for PCB Test processes
  • Utilize formal quality systems (Six Sigma/Lean/RRCA) to identify and eliminate waste
  • Improve productivity, quality, and equipment uptime 
  • Use process data i.e., test results and lab tests to evaluate product and process quality

Production Line Support

  • Ensure continuous operations through preventative maintenance processes, equipment troubleshooting and repair, equipment, and tool selection
  • Create and maintain required documentation and training of production employees 

Project Management

  • Responsible for multiple small projects or leading larger projects 
  • New product introductions and new equipment selection and commissioning

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
  • 2+ years’ experience in basic circuit analysis and troubleshooting and/or 2 years of exposure to electronics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology
  • Work in a fast-paced high-tech manufacturing environment
  • Experience with industrial controls, PLCs, Automation, and test equipment
  • Expertise in software implementation of data acquisition, instrument control, and communication protocols 
  • Experience in software development and software development tools
  • Proficiency in utilizing electrical schematics to develop test plans and diagnose circuit faults
  • Proficient in the use of all hand tools including wire-wrap and soldering experience
  • Expert in the use of test equipment, (DMM, Oscilloscopes), to diagnose electronic assemblies
  • Proficient in a variety of computer software programs: MS Office, CAD, and Software Configuration Management tools  
  • Ability to research/ specify vendors and engineering tools
  • Proficient in analyzing data to determine the best course of action 
  • Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing knowledge
  • Technical writing skills including process documentation and submitting proposals
  • Process Management, Project Management, and/or Quality Assurance
  • Ability to quickly learn engineering software suites used including AutoCAD and test automation software
  • Able to work with minimal guidance and direction
  • Foster relationships with production employees, peers, and manufacturing management
  • Energetic, hands-on, drive change and continuous improvement
