About this role
Carrier is seeking an experienced Quality Technician Team Lead to support Air‑Cooled manufacturing operations through direct oversight of shop‑floor and outbound quality execution.

This role provides daily leadership, coordination, and technical guidance to Quality personnel supporting:

  • In‑process inspection

  • Final audit

  • Test and verification activities

  • 3PL warehouse quality coverage

  • Supplier quality notifications and containment support

The Quality Team Lead serves as the primary quality authority on the production floor, ensuring inspections, audits, and quality notifications are executed consistently, independently, and in alignment with approved standards. This position plays a critical role in escape prevention, containment effectiveness, and data integrity across internal and external interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership and work direction to:

    • In‑process Quality Inspectors

    • Final Auditors

    • Burst House / Test Inspectors

    • Quality personnel supporting 3PL warehouse activities

  • Coordinate coverage and prioritize quality resources based on production risk, shipment schedules, and quality trends.

  • Serve as the first point of escalation for quality issues identified by the team prior to involvement of Quality Engineering or Management.

  • Coach and mentor quality team members on:

    • Inspection and audit expectations

    • Proper escalation and documentation

    • Consistent application of standard work

In‑Process & Final Quality Oversight

  • Oversee execution of in‑process inspections and final audits to ensure compliance with:

    • Work instructions

    • Control plans

    • Engineering specifications

  • Verify that inspection and audit results are:

    • Accurate

    • Complete

    • Properly documented

  • Reinforce independent quality verification separate from production influence.

3PL Warehouse & Supplier Quality Interface

  • Oversee quality coverage supporting 3PL warehouse operations, including:

    • Outbound quality verification

    • Damage, discrepancy, or nonconformance identification

  • Ensure supplier quality notifications are initiated promptly and accurately when supplier‑related issues are identified.

  • Support containment and communication between internal teams, 3PL partners, and Supplier Quality functions.

  • Verify traceability and documentation related to supplier‑driven quality issues.

Quality Systems & Documentation

  • Ensure quality records, audit documentation, and inspection data are completed accurately and on time.

  • Support ISO 9001 requirements, layered process audits, and internal quality audits.

  • Reinforce adherence to standard work, CTQs, and documented quality processes across all covered areas.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 4+ years of experience in manufacturing quality control or inspection

  • 2+ months of experience working onsite at a Carrier facility

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or experience in a technical field preferred. 

  • Working knowledge of basic Microsoft Software, and/or Oracle and SAP experience. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. 

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. 

  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 35 lbs repeatedly and stand/walk for the majority of the workday, with or without reasonable accommodation 

  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and HVAC equipment, such as automated assembly lines, preferred. 

  • Knowledge of quality management systems, such as ISO 9001, preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience acting as a lead, senior technician, or functional quality lead

Pay Range

The hourly rate for this position is between $24.00 - $48.00 per hour.  Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
