About the role

As a Sr. Manager – Materials, you will lead a large team of experienced professionals and team leaders responsible for materials and logistics operations. You will define and implement materials and inventory management strategies that support current and future production requirements, while driving operational efficiency, quality, cost reduction and continuous improvement. Your leadership will directly impact the business by ensuring material availability, optimizing inventory performance and enabling reliable and cost-effective operations.

Key Responsibilities

As a Sr. Manager – Materials & Logistics, you'll be responsible for:

  • Lead and develop a large team of materials and logistics professionals and team leaders, establishing clear objectives, accountability and performance expectations.

  • Define and implement materials and inventory management strategies to support production targets, operational requirements and quality standards.

  • Establish and maintain inventory and quality control systems to ensure material availability, inventory accuracy and adherence to operating schedules.

  • Lead cost reduction, productivity and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize materials management and logistics operations and improve overall cost effectiveness.

  • Manage complex, cross-functional projects and report inventory, materials and operational performance, risks and proposed solutions to senior management.

Requirements

We are looking for people who are strategic, results-oriented leaders with strong materials management, operational and people leadership capabilities. If this is you, get in touch.

As a minimum you must have:

  • University Degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Engineering, Business Administration or a related field.

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in Materials Management, Supply Chain, Logistics or a related function.

  • Proven experience leading large teams, including experienced professionals and team leaders, in a manufacturing or operations environment.

  • Strong experience in inventory management, materials planning, logistics operations and implementation of operational control systems.

  • Demonstrated experience leading cost reduction, continuous improvement and complex cross-functional projects, with the ability to communicate results and recommendations to senior management.

Although not necessary, it would be nice if you have:

  • Experience managing materials and logistics operations within a complex manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and data-driven inventory and materials management processes.

  • Experience applying Lean, continuous improvement or other operational excellence methodologies to materials and logistics processes.
