About the role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Chillers / Data Centers, you will be responsible for providing engineering leadership and technical expertise for mission‑critical mechanical cooling systems that support data center facilities. This role acts as a technical authority for chiller plants, heat rejection systems, and HVAC infrastructure, ensuring high reliability, redundancy, energy efficiency, and regulatory compliance throughout the full product and project lifecycle—from concept and design through testing, certification, manufacturing support, and field operations.
Your work will directly impact product quality, system performance, and customer satisfaction in highly critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Chillers / Data Centers, you’ll be responsible for:
Providing engineering support for field quality issues, delivering effective and timely solutions that improve product quality at competitive cost.
Supporting manufacturing plants with product engineering and design for commercial products fabricated under the Carrier Operating System (Cx).
Supporting and maintaining compliance with product certifications and audits (UL, ETL), including accuracy of agency files.
Maintaining accurate engineering information, including master Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawings, and engineering specifications.
Leading and executing mid- to high-complexity engineering programs with minimal supervision.
Developing and executing engineering test and qualification plans to support product improvements.
Securing, maintaining, and managing UL and ETL agency reports for commercial products.
Actively participating in product design reviews with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders.
Developing and maintaining standard products that are world-class, safe, reliable, and cost-competitive.
Providing technical troubleshooting, product support, and engineering guidance to internal teams.
Participating in defining and refining technical requirements for products and projects.
Driving product improvements based on end-user experience and executing corrective actions for field and test issues.
Developing and testing structures, materials, and related fabrication processes for engineering applications.
Collaborating with Product Management to introduce new product options into the standard product portfolio.
Developing computer-based models to simulate system and component performance.
Requirements
We are looking for technically strong, disciplined, and solution-oriented engineers who thrive in complex and regulated environments.
As a minimum you must have:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in similar mechanical engineering roles.
Strong experience in mechanical design and engineering drawings.
Experience supporting manufacturing, product quality, and field issues.
Knowledge of HVAC systems, chillers, and mechanical cooling systems.
Experience with product testing, validation, and certification processes.
Advanced English proficiency (written and verbal).
Although not necessary, it would be nice if you have:
Experience with data center cooling systems or mission-critical facilities.
Familiarity with AHRI, UL, and ETL certification processes.
Experience working with cross-functional or global engineering teams.
Experience in product lifecycle management and engineering change processes.
