About the team

Carrier’s Global Indirect Procurement organization is responsible for managing the company portfolio of indirect spend globally, which includes Professional Services, Travel, Fleet, Utilities, IT/Telecom, Field Services, Facilities, MRO, Engineering Services and Real Estate. The global indirect portfolio consists of over $2.5B in annual spend with a supply base of more than 15,000 suppliers supporting all businesses and factories around the world. We drive next level value creation through commercial excellence, technology enablement, and transformed supplier relationships-business models.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director, Indirect Procurement LATAM within the Indirect Procurement organization. This leader will be responsible for creating and developing an industry leading category management team positioned across LATAM to manage the $200MM+ portfolio of LATAM spend segments strategically to create step changes in value creation and industry leading performance in all aspects of procurement including strategy, organizational alignment, sourcing and category management, supplier relationship management, operating process management, performance management, digital and technology, and talent management.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Associate Director, Indirect Procurement LATAM, you will…

  • Lead a team of 15-20 employees in Indirect Procurement across LATAM/Mexico
  • Strategically manage spend portfolio of $200MM+ regionally.
  • Support M&A and integration activities associated with the function in the region.
  • Partner with global category leaders to integrate LATAM into global strategies and contracts.
  • Lead development and implementation of regional strategies and contracts, including capex.
  • Effectively lead delivery of step change in sustainable value creation to advance company competitiveness and improve reliability of supply to meet business and factory demand.
  • Develop strong collaboration with business unit and factory leaders and partner to align on strategy, supplier selection, change management, and sustainability of value creation.
  • Lead change management process through influence with other leaders across Supply Chain and other functions globally.
  • Effectively communicate and influence internally and externally to C-suite level.
  • Effectively manage supplier relationships up to and including C-suite level and transform from traditional buy-sell relationships to joint value creation/co-risk share models.
  • Manage fixed cost budget associated with the function.
  • Advance Sustainable Procurement and ESG progress towards longer term goals.
  • Institutionalize Carrier strategic sourcing process and oversee adoption and adherence (includes creating standards for supplier selection based on total cost of ownership, contracting and negotiation strategy).
  • Oversee contract management activities of team using SAP/Ariba and other available tools to manage supplier performance measures, financial incentives in contracts, and continuity of supply.
  • Lead select high level negotiations up to C-suite level.
  • Drive Source to pay process improvements and technology enablement to increase speed to value and increase operational efficiencies.

  • Establishing critical sourcing strategies; owning the purchasing activities of the company, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Developing and implementing mid- to long-term supply chain strategies and networks that address capacity issues, production location decisions, etc.
  • Partnering with internal clients and stakeholders to identify sourcing needs and developing sourcing strategies to continuously improve and re-evaluate the purchasing activities of the company.
  • Directing supplier selection based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities and details of suppliers' reputation and history.
  • Directing negotiations, renegotiations, and administration of contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives.
  • Directing negotiations with suppliers and analyzing suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and to determine lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.

Requirements:

Language skills:

  • Adequate English level to handle fluent and assertive conversations across global teams (written and spoken).

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering, with 10+ years of related experience.
  • OR Post graduate Degree, with 8+ years of related experience.
  • Must have experience leading cross-functional global teams.
  • Must have experience with strategic sourcing; cashflow, cost savings, P&L.
  • Must be proficient with SAP and Ariba softwares.

Travel availability:

  • Ability to travel internationally as required for due diligence, transition, and issue resolution

  • Ability to excel in a dynamic environment.
  • Deep management and leadership knowledge to lead cross-department project teams or manage across multiple related departments.
  • Proven ability to exercise independent business judgment to drive strategy and results.
  • Proven ability to influence and communicate with executive leaders.
  • Proven ability to lead a regional team to achieve results through leadership & influence.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership with ability to lead analysis and resolution of complex problems where success requires the evaluation of both tangible and intangible variables.
  • Solid innovation skills to improve entire processes / systems.

Nice to have: 10+ years experience in Procurement/Supply Chain leadership; Operations leadership
