Role Summary

The Senior Manager-Indirect Sourcing Leader CoE will lead Carrier's global capability center team in India and serve as the data, process, and execution backbone for ~$2B of global indirect spend. This role owns the end-to-end transformation of the CoE from a transactional sourcing-support function into an analytics- and AI-led nerve centre that gives Global Commodity Managers and Business SCM stakeholders real-time visibility into spend, demand, and savings opportunity

The incumbent will build and run a single source of truth for spend analytics, standardize and digitize core sourcing processes (RFx, demand management, productivity tracking), and embed AI and automation into daily workflows to compress cycle times and surface insight at scale. Success is measured on data integrity, process rigor, speed and quality of execution, and the CoE's ability to operate as a trusted, insight-generating partner to category and business leadership — not just a delivery arm.

The leader will also build organizational capability and capacity to match growth expectations, institutionalize a continuous-improvement and AI-upskilling culture, and own attraction, hiring, engagement, development, and retention of diverse talent.

A.  CoE Strategy & Strategic Positioning

  • Independently define and prioritize a multi-quarter CoE roadmap that ties directly to the $2B indirect spend agenda — not just a service-delivery task list.
  • Engage stakeholders on a recurring cadence to align on strategy, stress-test it against changing business needs, and adapt scope as priorities shift.
  • Translate strategy into actionable, metric-bound execution plans for the team, with clear ownership and timelines.
  • Drive change within the CoE and the broader supply chain organization, positioning the CoE as Carrier's center of gravity for data-driven, AI-enabled sourcing execution.
  • Build the business case and roadmap for migrating the CoE from a 1.0 (process execution) to a 2.0 (insight- and AI-led) operating model

B.  Data, Process & Spend Analytics Excellence

Spend Analytics

  • Own a single source of truth for $2B indirect spend — data cleansing, taxonomy/classification (e.g., UNSPSC), enrichment, and governance.
  • Build and maintain dashboards (Power BI / equivalent) and AI agents giving Commodity Managers and leadership real-time visibility into spend, savings pipeline, supplier concentration, and category trends.
  • Convert raw spend data into actionable opportunity assessments — should-cost views, benchmark gaps, and prioritized cost-reduction levers by category.

Process Standardization

  • Define, document, and standardize core CoE processes — RFx execution, demand management, intake/triage, and productivity tracking — across categories and geographies.
  • Establish and own SLAs for every customer and activity; lead structured performance-enhancement reviews against them.
  • Apply process-mining and Lean/Six Sigma principles to identify bottlenecks and re-engineer workflows for cycle-time reduction.

Execution Ownership

  • Hold front-end accountability for productivity and all CoE performance KPIs, reported on a fixed governance cadence.
  • Partner with Senior SCM leadership, Global Commodity Managers, and Business SCM stakeholders to identify and transition suitable activities into the CoE.
  • Maximize value-add by continuously re-scoping the CoE's portfolio of work toward higher-impact, analytics-intensive activity.

C.  AI & Digital Transformation

  • Embed AI and automation into core sourcing workflows — GenAI-assisted RFx drafting and evaluation, automated spend classification, and supplier/market intelligence agents.
  • Champion and operationalize commodity- and competitive-intelligence agents (e.g., GenAI/Copilot-based tools) that give Commodity Managers always-on market signal.
  • Identify and pilot agentic AI / RPA use cases that remove manual effort from data aggregation, reporting, and routine sourcing tasks; build the business case and track realized productivity.
  • Drive an AI-fluency and upskilling culture within the CoE so the team operates as builders and power-users of these tools, not just consumers.
  • Partner with IT/Digital teams to ensure AI tools meet data security, governance, and compliance standards.

D.  People Management & Talent

  • Proven people-management skills with an empathetic leadership style; track record leading teams of 20–30 resources.
  • Strong sense of accountability for self and team, with a results-oriented, high-urgency, customer-first mindset.
  • Strong program- and change-management capability; able to influence upward, peer-wide, and downward in a complex matrixed environment.
  • Sharp problem-solving and analytical skills, with the judgment to translate ambiguous asks into structured, data-backed recommendations.
  • Own attraction, hiring, engagement, development, and retention of diverse talent; build bench strength to match the CoE's growth trajectory.
  • Collaborate effectively across Carrier entities and geographies to land cross-functional projects.

Qualifications

  • B.E. from a premier institute required; MBA from a reputed institute strongly preferred.
  • 16+ years of supply chain / sourcing experience, with demonstrated exposure to a CoE or shared-services / GCC operating environment.
  • Deep sourcing knowledge across indirect categories — IT & Telecom, Professional Services, Travel, Office Equipment, Marketing, Real Estate & Facilities Management.
  • Hands-on exposure to spend analytics, RFx execution, and cost-reduction levers for indirect categories; comfort working in BI/visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of (or strong appetite to deploy) GenAI / agentic AI tools and automation (RPA) in a procurement or sourcing context.
  • Strong process orientation, with experience designing or operating standardized, metrics-driven workflows at scale.
