About this position
The Senior Mechanical Engineer role at Carrier, based in East Syracuse, NY, is a hands-on, high-impact position supporting the development and deployment of advanced heat transfer technologies for Carrier’s global product portfolio. This role plays a critical part in fast prototyping and proof‑of‑concept activities, combining laboratory work with engineering analysis and Model‑Based Design to accelerate innovation from concept to production.
You will serve as a key technical interface between Carrier’s Mechanical Center of Excellence in Syracuse and manufacturing and production sites worldwide. With a strong focus on data center projects operating under accelerated timelines, this position drives collaboration across engineering, supply chain, and business unit teams to ensure new products are launched on time, within budget, and to Carrier’s quality standards. The role also contributes to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance product designs, reduce cost, and advance sustainable, scalable fabrication technologies across global operations.
Role Responsibilities
- Support Fast Prototyping activities for Proof-of-Concept testing of new technology in Heat Transfer systems, both hands-on in our labs and with Engineering analysis work including Model Base Design (MBD). Our team supports Carrier products at a global level, both current and future.
- Help identifying areas of opportunity to improve designs, cost, products and manufacturing systems and execute improvements
- support/validate fabrication approaches and evaluate Value Proposition to develop sustainable and cost-effective fabrication technologies.
- Act as the liaison between the Mech Center of Excellence in Syracuse and the local production and manufacturing locations over the world to better support new product introductions.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
- 2+ years combined hands-on work experience in fabrication/manufacturing processes (specifically sheet metal/bulk forming, machining, welding/brazing, assembly, process costing).
- Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally up to 40% of the time for short periods in support of the global projects.
Preferred Qualifications (nice to have)
Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:
- Project management experience is a plus.
- 3D CAD experience.
- Familiar with Statistical Process Control tools and methods.
- Production line experience.

Pay Range
The annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 - $158,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.Other Compensation
