About this role

As a Quality Inspector at Kidde-Fenwal we need someone who has experience reading and understanding engineering drawings; and has an in-depth understanding of measuring tools, such as CMM, thread gauges, calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, and radius gauges. The Quality Inspector is responsible for examining materials for quality and defects on incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products. Also, be responsible for logging quality in computer systems.

This is an onsite opportunity in Ashland MA, 40 hours work week with a flexible starting time of either 7 am or 8 am Mondays to Fridays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine or first-article inspection on purchased components. 
  • Inspect purchased mechanical parts, assemblies, and materials for conformance to drawing requirements and specifications, using precision measuring tools, instruments, and optical comparators.
  • Analyze product samples and conduct quality audits to identify any defects or deviations from specifications.
  • Use the ERP system, excel spreadsheets, and drawing database to access information and drawings and transact parts within the ERP system.
  • Collaborate with production teams or suppliers to address any quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Document inspection results and maintain detailed records of quality control activities.
  • Follow established procedures and protocols for quality management and assurance.
  • Assist in the tracking of nonconforming products and verifying effective corrective action

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 4 years plus of experience in quality control or inspection

Preferred Qualifications

  • AA/AS degree (prefer)
  • Previous quality control experience in a production line manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and their use in product inspection
  • Knowledge of QA/QC principles and practice
  • Read and understand engineering drawings and specification
  • Working knowledge of GD&T principles.
  • Familiarity with industry standards i.e., ANSI, ASTM.
  • Experience in inspecting electronic parts
  • Experience with semi-automated digital measuring equipment (Keyence IM, etc.)
  • Work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
  • English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Attention to detail and ability to analyze data accurately
