About the position


The Test Lab Technician will support the Heat Transfer Group by performing experimental setups, operating test facilities, and ensuring accurate data collection for HVAC components and systems. This role requires hands-on technical skills, attention to detail, and collaboration with engineers to maintain high standards of testing and product development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and quality standards.

  • Prepare and set up test samples and facilities according to test plans and standard work instructions.

  • Install, prepare and instrument prototypes for heat transfer testing.

  • Operate and monitor test cells and data acquisition systems during experiments.

  • Troubleshoot and modify test facilities and support equipment as needed.

  • Perform preventive maintenance and calibration of lab equipment.

  • Follow existing and establish new testing procedures.

  • Assist in prototype fabrication and lab improvement projects.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED with 6+ years experience with lab, mechanic, or technician experience within the HVAC industry, or Associate Degree with 4+ years experience with lab, mechanic, or technician experience within the HVAC industry.

  • 1+ year experience in brazing / soldering.

  • 1+ year experience in reading and interpreting schematics for piping and wiring.

  • EPA certified or willing to pass the exam within 2 months of hiring.


Preferred Qualifications (assets)

Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:

  • Working knowledge of Ms-Office suite.

  • Comfortable working with deenergized high voltage equipment.

  • Ability to work in an agile manner, embrace shifting priorities, and adapt positively to change.
