About This Role

We are seeking an established Staff Project Engineer, Compression to join the Charlotte, NC. As a Staff Project Engineer, Compression, you will work closely with our laboratory team, design and drafting team and a cross functional development team to support our system development teams, factories, and company’s customers across the globe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to as well as lead projects or sub-projects pertaining to product development, reliability, and quality improvement of Centrifugal compressors.
  • Work within a global cross functional team of engineers, designers, and operations to develop and sustain compression product platforms.
  • Integrating new technologies within greenfield compression projects
  • Work with dedicated design/drafting teams in compressor design to implement product changes from concept through to production, interfacing with manufacturing and suppliers.
  • Applying engineering and quality tools to improve products for robust design, manufacturability, and lowering product cost while meeting component performance and quality requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of DOE, FMEA, tolerance analysis, simulation and statistical methods to improve robustness and quality of compressor designs.
  • Ensure products meet applicable Carrier and agency standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with 7+ years of Mechanical experience in Aerospace, Turbomachinery, or Gas Turbines with Design, Manufacturing, or Sustaining

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Strong preference for high-speed rotating equipment/product development.
  • Experience with common manufacturing processes such as casting, forging, CNC machining, dynamic balancing, lubrication, and bearings is valued for effective decision making.
  • Must have a strong mechanical background should include Mechanics of Materials, Machine Design, manufacturing, Vibration and Statistics or Reliability
  • Aptitude for learning, taking ownership and demonstrate technical depth.
  • Effective communication skills, teamwork, pro-active, and the ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural global organization are essential.
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, quality tools, and GD&T are preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication. Ability to communicate technical information to stakeholders.
  • Well-developed analytical thinking, critical thinking, problem-solving skills. Ability to collect and analyze data, identify trends, develop conclusions, and propose solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, collaboration, responsibility, dependability, leadership, flexibility, motivation, respect, and persistence.
  • Capable of leading and working in a team-oriented environment across a multi-cultural global organization.
