About the role
The Business Analyst in the SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) space is responsible for gathering business requirements, supporting solution architects and developers, and driving the successful execution of various SIOP technology projects. This role sits at the intersection of business and technology, with responsibilities spanning requirements documentation, process optimization, and report building. The ideal candidate should have experience with SIOP KPIs and a proven ability to collaborate across teams while working independently.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Business Analyst, you’ll be responsible for:
Requirements Gathering & Documentation:
Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document detailed business requirements for SIOP projects.
Create comprehensive
Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and functional specifications that accurately capture business needs.
Work closely with solution architects and developers to translate business requirements into technical solutions, ensuring alignment between business goals and system design.
Conduct process mapping and gap analysis to identify areas for improvement within the SIOP framework.
Techno-Functional Support:
Act as a key liaison between business users, solution architects, and developers to ensure requirements are clearly understood and effectively implemented.
Provide functional and technical support during project design, development, and deployment phases.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving functional and technical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure system configurations and customizations align with business processes and objectives.
Report Building & Data Analysis:
Develop standard reports and dashboards to track key SIOP KPIs, including demand forecasting, inventory turnover, on-time delivery, and capacity utilization.
Ensure reports provide actionable insights to improve decision-making and support continuous process improvement.
Work with business stakeholders to identify additional reporting needs and build custom reports as necessary.
Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and relevance of data within reports and analytics tools.
Support SIOP Projects:
Provide hands-on support in executing SIOP technology initiatives across multiple projects, ensuring that solutions are delivered on time and within scope.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., supply chain, finance, production) to ensure the solution meets the broader business objectives.
Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate that the solutions meet business requirements and are fit for purpose.
Support project managers in monitoring project progress, timelines, and deliverables, providing regular updates on the status of business analysis activities.
SIOP Process & KPI Expertise:
Apply understanding of SIOP processes to ensure solutions are aligned with best practices in demand planning, production scheduling, inventory management, and supply chain optimization.
Track and analyze SIOP KPIs, recommending improvements based on data-driven insights.
Assist in the development and implementation of SIOP processes that are scalable and adaptable to evolving business needs.
Collaborative & Self-Starter Mindset:
Foster a collaborative environment by working closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring that everyone is aligned and working toward common goals.
Engage with stakeholders at all levels to ensure their needs are met and that the solution delivers value.
Act as a self-starter, proactively identifying opportunities for process improvements and taking initiative to drive changes forward.
Manage competing priorities effectively, ensuring that tasks are completed in a timely manner without compromising quality.
Requirements
As a minimum you must have:
5-10 years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in SIOP, supply chain, or related areas.
Strong understanding of SIOP processes including demand planning, production planning, inventory management, and capacity planning.
Experience building business requirements documents (BRDs) and functional specifications for technology projects.
Ability to develop and support standard and custom reports using relevant reporting tools.
Knowledge of SIOP KPIs and ability to build reports/dashboards that track and measure these metrics.
Techno-functional expertise with the ability to understand both business processes and technical solutions.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and work independently as a self-starter.
Desired Skills:
Experience with SIOP technology platforms (e.g., Kinaxis, SAP IBP, Oracle, etc.).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to draw insights from data.
Knowledge of project management methodologies and ability to support project managers.
Familiarity with SQL, Power BI, or other reporting/BI tools for report development.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
