OUR ENGINEERING TEAM
NORESCO’s Engineering Group is responsible for identifying energy savings opportunities for large commercial and institutional facilities, including schools and universities in support of our Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC). Our Engineering team’s primary focus is to analyze current energy systems and consumption and to make recommendations for energy upgrades necessary to decrease overall energy usage and costs for that business.
We have an immediate need for an Energy Engineer, in NYC.
As an Energy Engineer at NORESCO, you will be required to travel about 25% to different project sites regionally and nationally. You’ll have a great deal of interaction with customers as well as other NORESCO staff. You’ll be representing NORESCO at customer sites. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to possess good listening and communication skills.

As an Energy Engineer, you’ll be involved in the following:
●Conduct energy audits in large commercial and institutional facilities.
●Perform data entry and quality control of audits.
●Analyze utility bill data to determine customer energy performance parameters.
●Identify and quantify energy conservation opportunities associated with lighting, lighting controls, daylighting, plumbing, photovoltaic, motors and steam traps.
●Collect detailed information on the existing lighting, plumbing and document critical performance variables.
●Provide detailed energy savings calculations for the development of ESPC projects.
●Perform energy calculations using spreadsheets and energy modeling software to determine energy savings associated with plumbing/lighting equipment and systems.
●Write scopes of work for plumbing/lighting subcontractors.
●Coordinate and schedule site visits.
●Establish design criteria by identifying the customer’s needs, preferences and experiences.
●Develop cost estimates associated with mechanical energy conservation measures.
●Write detailed energy conservation measure descriptions for inclusion in proposal submissions.
This is our preferred background for this position:
●BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent four year engineering/technical degree.
●1-5 years in an energy efficiency technical discipline demonstrating superb problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
●Proficient in MS Office software-Excel, Word.
●Experience in using a database, preferably with an SQL platform.
●Professional level writing and oral communication skills.
●Experienced interacting with customer technical representatives.
