We have an immediate need for a Plant Manager to manage a Central Utility Plant (CUP)  facility in the Greenville, South Carolina area.  

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following experience, skills, and proven track record to complete the following tasks:

  • Manage plant Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities and performance to:
    • meet the host’s continual demands for steam, chilled water, cooling water, deionized water and compressed air,
    • achieve company goals and contractual obligations, and
    • operate the plant to comply with regulatory, customer’s and host’s requirements
  • Optimize the coordination, planning and execution of CUP O&M activities with the host’s production and load requirements.
  • Manage and administer OEM and vendor service agreements to best support NORESCO’s obligations to meet the host’s needs while meeting all contractual, regulatory and safety requirements. Plan, schedule, coordinate and monitor plant maintenance activities using the NORESCO O&M staff and contracted maintenance services providers.
  • Develop and distribute reports and forecasts addressing production, performance, budgets, and regulatory compliance to the customer, host and NORESCO corporate management.
  • Act as the primary onsite, company representative for plant, contractual, and community related activities. 
  • Foster positive relationships on behalf of the company with the customer, contractors, regulators and community organizations.  


Candidates must be have demonstrated experience in the operation, maintenance and management of Steam, Central Heat and Power, Chilled Water or Combined Cycle plants.  The successful candidate will also possess:

  • Experience and technical competence in  steam, chilled water, cooling water, deionized water and compresses air systems and instrument, controls, electrical distribution and balance of plant equipment and systems.  Additionally, experience and knowledge in once through boiler design and operation is preferred.
  • Fully competent in the management and methods for the pre-treatment and chemical treatment applied to water, steam, condensate, and waste water in a utility plant.
  • 5+ years of utility plant O&M experience and 2+ years as Plant or Assistant Plant Manager, Plant Engineer, or equivalent management role in a utility plant organization.  Experience in the development and implementation of OM staff hiring and mobilization/commissioning efforts is preferred.
  • Proven and demonstrated success with the administration, implementation and management of Energy Services Contracts, OEM Long Term Services Agreements, Contracted Services Agreements.
  • Proven success with the administration, implementation and management of corporate EH&S, accounting and regulatory compliance policies.
  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical or Marine Engineering or commensurate experience required. 

The position will report directly the company’s Director of Operations, Energy Infrastructure and work closely with the department’s engineering staff and the customer.  The successful candidate must receive approval from the plant owner’s management team.
