The Carrier F&S business team is seeking a Manager, Packaging Engineer & Design for its Kidde Residential Fire business unit. This role is based in Mebane, NC (Greater Raleigh, NC area) and reports to the Associate Director, Content & Ops Marketing. This role will be responsible for innovating, designing, and executing best-in-class packaging and merchandising solutions for new product launches, promotional activities, and the product portfolio overall. The successful candidate will be able to apply their experience by supporting the step-up product strategy at the shelf and overall brand storytelling through packaging/merchandising execution. This role will also lead or support sustainability, cost reduction, and other packaging efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborates with Customer Experience, Product, and Trade teams to develop in-store merchandising and packaging designs to ensure optimal end-user/consumer out-of-box experience that also meets our retail customers' warehouse and planogram requirements.
Owns and executes end-to-end structure development to support new product launches and existing product packaging activity.
Manages packaging development timelines, working cross-functionally with Project Managers, Design Studio and Product Management to ensure customer commitments are met.
Works to improve the packaging development process and information systems to reduce friction and improve speed to market.
Works with Brand, Product, and Insights to validate merchandising and packaging designs through consumer testing.
Proactively researches and makes recommendations based on packaging/merchandising trends in design and sustainability.
Ensure new structure executions meet quality/ship standards and project cost parameters.
Evaluate suppliers for conceiving, designing, production and testing support.
Collaborate with suppliers and global packaging support teams to develop packaging design specifications, and implement improvements.
Actively participate in marketing research programs, including focus groups and trade shows to keep abreast of industry changes, new innovations, and equipment for updating designs and processes. Visit/evaluate current and potential new suppliers as needed.
Lead or support cost reduction efforts
Lead and mentor packaging team to develop professional skills and career goals.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
BS or BA in Packaging Engineering
Must have at least 5-7 years of Packaging Engineering experience within the consumer products industry.
Ability to work effectively with Brand Marketing, Design, Product Marketing, and Supply Chain Teams regarding packaging execution.
Demonstrates Strategic and Critical Thinking with regards to structural packaging.
Knowledge of packaging-related manufacturing processes.
Strong background in AutoCAD, Solidworks, TOPS and Adobe Creative Suite
Excellent Microsoft Office skills
Excellent organizational, project, and time management skills.
International /Global experience preferred.
