Sr. Manager, Commodity & Strategic Sourcing (Steel Fabrication)

  • Location: Santa Catarina, Nuevo León, México.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Establishes elements of commodity / account management and strategic sourcing plans.

  • Develops supply chain standards and networks that address capacity issues, production location decisions, etc.

  • Approves the selection of suppliers to meet the organization's standards of price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply.

  • Establishes strategy for negotiating awards contracts, specifying spending limits and qualified sources of supply.

  • Partners with internal clients and stakeholders to identify sourcing needs.

  • Reviews and recommends supply markets to source for the best practices.

  • Directs negotiations with suppliers, and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices, and to determine the lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability and ability to meet required schedules.

  • Deliver periodic executive business review of category (5-year plan) focusing on overall strategy, industry landscape, supplier capabilities, performance, and technical roadmaps.

  • Manage overall supplier relationships in category.

  • Maintain working knowledge of market trends, key drivers of supply conditions, and cost structure along with any technology shifts ongoing.

  • Travel to supplier manufacturing locations to assess “ground conditions”, foster healthy working relationships, and deliver key messages to supplier leadership.

Role Purpose:

  • Leads team of Commodity / Account Management & Strategic Sourcing professional, overseeing execution of key elements of supply chain strategy. Develops supplier standards and networks in support of organization's standards for price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply. Establishes strategy for supplier selection and negotiations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Supply Chain Management or General Business Administration with a concentration in Supply Chain.

  • 5-7 years’ experience in sourcing environment.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Global supply chain experience working with diverse worldwide team spanning multiple time zones.

  • Familiarity with strategic sourcing concepts and tools.

  • Very comfortable with Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

  • Successful negotiation experience with suppliers.
