About this role

Walter Kidde Portable Equipment Inc. has an opening for a Digital Copywriter, Ecommerce supporting the retail & commercial channels as part of the newly formed Digital Trade Marketing organization. Kidde’s Digital Copywriter, Ecommerce will be responsible for crafting compelling and concise written content across the digital landscape for online retailers such as Amazon, Home Depot, and Walmart. The Digital Copywriter will be proficient in tailoring messaging to target audiences, optimizing SEO, and staying abreast of industry trends to deliver impactful and results-driven communication.

This position is preferably located in Atlanta, GA; Mebane, NC; or Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilizing retailer requirements, write complete and accurate product copy for product detail pages on all ecommerce sites – including but not limited to product titles, bullets, & marketing copy.

  • Deliver copy on time and in accordance with business needs. Address any copy changes quickly and efficiently.

  • Collaborate with product and brand managers to understand product features and benefits, product line strategy and business strategy, and ensure written copy is in alignment.

  • Demonstrates initiative and ability to immerse themselves in the brand/product and develop a knowledge base of category differences and terminology for both residential and professional consumers.

  • Understand the demands of SEO to deliver copy that effectively utilizes keywords and phrases seamlessly.

  • Research keywords across retail and submit SEO keywords improvements on a quarterly basis.

  • Assist with A/B testing for written content on Amazon.

  • Work with Platform Owner, Product Information Management (PIM)/Data Asset Management (DAM) to get written content archived for both new and legacy products for future syndication.

  • Assist Ecommerce Content Strategist & PIM/DAM Platform Owner with inputting product and retailer specific meta data on visual content within Kidde’s Data Asset Management (DAM) system, as needed.

  • Apply SEO, SEM to deliver optimized and engaging copy by platform, channel, and audience. Provide multiple variations for regular A/B testing, and leverage insights for future application.

  • Develop and maintain an extremely thorough quality check process checking for spelling, grammar, and other inconsistencies.

  • Work with agency partners & trade marketing team to ensure all copy displayed on site is accurate and up to date.

  • Provide ad-hoc project support to Ecommerce Content Strategist on product- and content-related projects.

  • Analyze competitive content and implement any applicable optimizations.

  • Gather insights from the sales and trade marketing teams to update and maintain written content guidelines as published by each retailer.

  • Utilize Pacvue Commerce as needed to gather copywriting insights & make content improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 3+ years of experience in SEO, SEM, and digital marketing.

  • 2+ years of experience in copywriting for a Consumer Packed Goods (CPG) retail-oriented company.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business.

  • In-depth knowledge of keyword research and the ability to create targeted keyword lists, with a focus on Amazon.

  • Familiar with SEO & SEM best practices as it relates to copywriting

  • High attention to detail – must have stellar proofreading and editing skills.

  • Experience with A/B and multivariate experiments.

  • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to multitask and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Outstanding collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to interact with marketing leadership and various levels within the organization.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the capability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.

  • Familiarity with SEO tools and analytics platforms.
