In our Commercial HVAC business unit, we deliver iconic solutions of Air Cooled, Water Cooled and Airside products.
About this role
Commercial HVAC seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer for the Charlotte Plant in North Carolina, who is highly motivated, strategical thinker, results-oriented, disciplined, enjoys challenges, and loves innovating new manufacturing technology and optimizing processes in a high-mix production system.
This is a fast-paced environment, and we are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer who will thrive in such an opportunity and who wants to develop further in an operations career. The Commercial HVAC team is interested in hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer who is comfortable in a high-performing, customer-focused environment, and can adapt quickly to produce meaningful outcomes integrity, and commitment to success.
Drawing on previous experience and ingenuity, the Senior Electrical Engineer must be a leader who can motivate a multidisciplinary team to provide stellar work across all functions and the manufacturing workforce. Also work closely with functional partners in Operations, Continuous Improvement, Supplier Quality, Internal and Field Quality, Finance, and site employees.
The Senior Electrical Engineer has complete ownership of developing and implementing electrical engineering techniques in the Applied Chiller business at the Charlotte facility. The Senior Electrical Engineer develops and controls procedures for the final wiring operations, as well as troubleshoots the complex electrical systems to allow these units to perform to the customer’s requirements. We require a strong understanding of chiller and control systems and related components in this role.
This role is right for a person with a technical and leadership background and that develops manufacturing into a competitive advantage. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be key in guiding functional and operations stakeholders, along with OEMs / supplier partners on important issues and decisions and to share best practices with sites that share the same product platform with the potential to extend and deploy matching solutions.
This is a 2nd shift (2 pm to 11 pm) onsite role in Charlotte.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage electrical engineering for control and power electronic integration into chiller products
- Design and/or integrate variable frequency power electronics
- Collaborate with product management, software, chiller systems and compression engineering to define controls and motor controller requirements
- Work with the supply chain to identify suppliers to produce Carrier control and motor controls solutions
- Provide oversight of our control and motor control production
- Maintain code compliance
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- 4+ years of experience in control panel design and layout or electrical component sizing and application
- 1+ years of experience in maintaining Code Compliance
Preferred Qualifications
- MS in Electrical or related engineering
- Project leadership experience
- HVAC industry experience
- English communication skills
- Leadership and teamwork skills
