This position develops and executes new product development plans and product commercialization for profitable growth for the Residential Fire and Security business unit. This position reports to the Senior Director, Global Product Management – Fire Detection and can be based in Mebane, NC; Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Colorado Springs, CO; or Charlotte, NC.

  • Use data to drive voice of customer insights and needs-based customer segmentation to maximize value for product and services offerings, includes effectively managing outside agencies to derive insights
  • Develop deep understanding and continued learning of macro indicators, competitive landscape, target customer & end-user, to ensure we maintain a leading edge with our products, technology, and services
  • Develop strategy and plan for product portfolio under management including objectives, key performance indicators, and resource allocation to deliver results
  • Guide the creation of product requirements including specifications, features, benefits & quality
  • In-depth experience leading products through formal NPD stage-gate process
  • Prioritize and drive global platforming initiatives through insight, influence, and strategy to global product management teams
  • Provide active leadership and partnership with Consumer Experience, Trade Marketing, and Brand Management during customer line reviews for product mix, landscape pricing, technology waterfall, overall customer and internal profitability, and awarded business go-to-market plans
  • Comprehensive understanding of the CPG commercialization process ranging from packaging to e-commerce needs that are required to bring a product to market.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the big box retail selling environment, both standard on shelf executions as well as off shelf promotions
  • Develop relationships with key Sales and Trade Marketing managers to support key accounts and communicate VOC and needs back to the business
  • Develop robust financial plans according to key dates in annual, long-range, and ad hoc financial processes, including tracking and adjusting continuously
  • Lead cross-functionally without authority with other departments including regional offices, Engineering, Program Management, Trade Marketing, Customer Experience, Finance, Supply Chain and Operations

Skills & Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, marketing, brand management
  • 5+ years of experience in a large retail environment, consumer package goods company
  • Solid mastery of strategic and upstream marketing, specifically in a B2C retail environment
  • Demonstrated experience developing customer journeys, user personas, use cases, and product requirements and tying them to consumer-focused brand and marketing activities
  • Results-driven with a bias for action and the ability to break down barriers across functions to accelerate programs for profitable growth
  • Build and manage high-performing, motivated, empowered teams by conveying clear strategy, objectives, milestones, KPIs, developing talent, with focus on results
  • Reward and reinforce the right behavior, teamwork, participative and inclusive environment by being open to alternate viewpoints, encourage consensus
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively influence and communicate across different functional teams and global internal partners in a matrix environment, high EQ to engage & align with key stakeholders on shared outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience with stage-gate / phase-gate management
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently to deliver business results
  • True ownership mentality, effective organizational, problem solving, multi-tasking, and financial reporting skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required
  • Up to 25% travel
