About the role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically savvy Product Owner to join our IoT-based Abound product line in the smart building automation domain. This role sits at the intersection of technology, design, and customer needs, focusing on transforming high-level epics into well-defined development deliverables. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineering teams to ensure our features are implemented effectively, intuitively, and in alignment with business priorities.

Abound is Carrier’s suite of digitally connected lifecycle solutions and services for diverse building portfolios. Abound is designed to allow building management to see deeply and broadly across their assets, act on prioritized decisions, and refine, adapt, and scale on a continual basis to improve energy efficiency, enhance occupant comfort and productivity, and streamline compliance reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the technical delivery bridge between product management and engineering, ensuring vision is translated into reality.
  • Work closely with customers, product managers, and designers to identify needs and turn them into actionable development items.
  • Support a global product scope, collaborating with regional teams and international clients.
  • Contribute to solutions that reduce the 40% of global greenhouse gas emissions attributed to buildings by removing data silos and implementing advanced technology.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 + years of experience as a Product Owner, Technical Product Owner, and/or developer with product exposure experience.
  • 3 + years of experience of Agile/Scrum methodology and backlog management tools (e.g., Jira, Aha!).
  • Able to travel up to 20–30% as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Systems Engineer, Solution Architect Software Engineer, Developer, UX Researcher and/or Designer (with product exposure)
  • Experience as a Business Analyst to translate business requirements into user stories builds the muscle for backlog management
  • Technical background with the ability to communicate effectively with developers and understand software architecture.
  • Experience working in the building automation, HVAC controls, IoT, or smart building industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD) and UX/UI principles.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical requirements for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Background in smart building automation and IoT systems.
  • Experience working in both start-up and corporate environments.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with SaaS product delivery.
  • Experience managing integrations between BAS, cloud platforms, and third-party systems.
  • PMP or Agile certification (e.g., CSPO) is a plus.
